Shotley Annual Parish Council meeting, 18 May 2006

  • Richard Wrinch was re-elected as Chairman for the year, and Anna Long as Vice Chair. Committee positions were also decided.
  • Ganges – the Inspector intends to have his recommendations out before July 28 <more>
  • Kingsland and Ganges play areas
    • Grass to be cut more often in the summer
    • Bench seating to be placed in both areas
    • Tennis Courts have been cleared of undergrowth and thoroughly swept and arrangements in hand for nets to be installed <more>
  • Parish Plan Implementation Board
    • If you have requested a grant form, please complete and return to parish clerk by 26 May
    • If you would like a grant form, please contact the parish clerk

  • A draft Communication Strategy was presented – for finalising at the next meeting.
  • Shotley Marina have resubmitted their applications for upgrading Queen Victoria and King Edward VII Drives, and lifting conditions which would enable the construction of up 150 properties at the Marina. The Council opposed the lifting of the conditions until the number of dwellings can be formally clarified. <more>
  • Grants were agreed for the over 60s club and Homestart
  • Litter issues
    • New bin to be placed at Kitchener Way near the bus stop soon
    • Shotley and Shotley Gate much cleaner due to excellent work of our two litter wardens <more>
  • Crime report
  • A complaint had been received about dogs barking. Owners are reminded that dog barking can cause a statutory nuisance. Under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 the District Council can take formal action on dog owners if their dogs are left to bark for long periods.
  • Loads of accounts, administration and correspondence issues were dealt with!
