Safer Neighbourhood Team

Your Safer Neighbourhood Team is made up of Police Officers, Police Community Support Officers, Special Constables, Council staff, community partners and volunteers.

The ethos behind SNT is to work closely with the community and their partnership agencies to tackle local problems of concern.  They'll want to find out what most affects your quality of life, whether that's anti-social behaviour, graffiti, noisy neighbours or crime. Then we can help to try and solve these problems, to create neighbourhoods that are safe and feel safe.

Our SNT is based at Capel Police Station.

Introduction by PC 346 Gary Austin, new Safer Neighbourhood Officer from July 2008

I would like to introduce myself as your new Safer Neighbourhood Officer as from Monday 21 July 2008. I will be covering the following villages:

Chelmondiston, Erwarton, Freston, Harkstead, Holbrook, Shotley, Stutton, Tattingstone, Wherstead and Woolverstone.

I will also continue to cover Pinewood and the surrounding local villages.
Prior to becoming a SNT Officer, I was a Community Police Officer for approximately three years and have covered a wide range of issues within the local community. Along with PCSO Patricia Gibson I look forward to working in partnership with the local community and agencies for the Shotley area. I will be based at Capel St Mary Police Station and can be contacted on the following e-mail: Gary.Austin@suffolk.pnn.police.uk

Message:

It is important that ALL crimes are reported to the Police and recorded by the Police, not only can this build up a picture and pattern of events it can also assist in the deployment of Police Officers in your Village.

If incidents are not reported it can give the impression that nothing is happening in the Village! We all know that this is not true, so please take the time and effort to report matters either when they are happening or when it comes to your attention.
