Shotley Parish Plan Invites Local Businesses to Share Views

Press release 5 September 2005

The Shotley Parish Plan Steering Committee have invited all local businesses in the Parish to a meeting to discuss how local businesses can help the community and how the community can help local businesses as part of the process of writing a Parish Plan. To be held at 7.30pm at Shotley Village Hall on Thursday 8 September the meeting will take evidence on the health of the local economy and how the Parish Plan can these address issues,

Chairman of the Steering Committee Phil Radley believes such a meeting is vital if the Parish Plan is to be seen as relevant to all people in the village. "This type of meeting is pretty rare, but we feel it is important that issues of concerns to the local business community, particularly the self employed, are addressed. You cannot have a health community without a health local economy."

The Shotley Parish Plan will be a blueprint for the development of the village over the next five years. The Steering Committee are currently analysing a questionnaire sent to every household and have also consulted young people, the voluntary sector and local clubs and societies.
