B1456 road resurfacing, May 2007

 

It is now confirmed that the B1456 will be closed between Shotley & Chelmo on 10 & 11 May 2007 between 10pm & 6am. This is instead of daytime 3 & 4 May originally announced. Two diversions routes to be in place, in and out.

 
Note: Shotley Parish Council decided on 19 April 2007, to write formally to the County Council, expressing concern about the implications for emergency access, etc. In response, we have been informed that the emergency services have been notified of the new dates and times, but should the need arise they will be allowed through the works.
 

Key points:

  • The B1456 will be closed between Shotley & Chelmo on 10 & 11 May 2007 between 10pm & 6am
  • The site is between Stanley House, Chelmondiston, and Wades Lane, Shotley. See the map below.
  • The work is necessary to arrest deterioration and improve the surface.
  • The contractor is Tarmac, on behalf of Alfred McAlpine and the County Council.
  • The road will be closed to through traffic at these times.
  • The alternative route for south bound traffic will be via B1456, Bylam Lane Chelmo, Lower Houses Rd Harkstead, Rat Hill, Erwarton, B1456 Shotley.
  • The alternative route for north bound traffic will be via B1456 Shotley, Street & Rat Hill Erwarton, The Street, Holbrook Rd Harkstead, Harkstead Rd, Fir Tree Hill, Fishponds Lane, B1080 Ipswich Rd, B1456 Freston.
  • MyShotley will report any further changes in details.
  • Access to properties and businesses within the closure should be available most of the time.
