| Saturday 19 & Sunday 20 April 2008 Now in its 6th year! Start your weekend very early with a ‘dawn chorus’ walk, lead by Ian Peters, listening to, spotting and identifying birds and wildlife, (we’ve yet to catch sight of the very shy Magnificent and Monstrous Marsh Monster…) followed by a hearty full English breakfast, cooked by David Armes (who is retuning to us from foreign shores, for this important engagement! Later in the morning, after several cups of coffee, come and visit Shotley Village Hall to see an exhibition by local artists, and craftspeople, professional and amateur, with many items for sale, a plant stall, a display of old photographs of the local area and people, a collection of farming implements and big machinery and of course our now almost world famous Children’s Art Competition, (featuring a design for a tourism poster for the Shotley peninsula) showcasing work by hundreds of children from Shotley Primary School and Holbrook High School. If this is just all too much, and you’re in need of refreshment and sustenance, try a ploughman's lunch (or should that be an agricultural vehicle operative’s mid day nutritional supplement?) or perhaps just a cuppa, some homemade cake, (yes we still have homemade cake, Health and Safety will never take us alive!) and a chat! And finally…as if we haven’t had enough fun, we’re doing it all again on Sunday with added Morris Dancers and cream teas! Dawn Chorus Quiz night All proceeds to the Viking Forest Project
