1st Shotley Scouts Annual Celeidh

To the skirl of bagpipes the seventh annual 1st Shotley Scouts Ceilidh began on Saturday 24th November. Guests entertained one another before the meal and Andrew Coulson’s table undoubtedly read out the naughtiest joke of the evening. Marty Paton, resplendent in kilt, read The Selkirk Grace and our meal commenced.

To the catering committee’s astonishment more haggis was eaten this year than any time previously! Perhaps we are converting everyone.
Dancing ensued with the usual gusto and gave much enjoyment to those who chose to sit out and watch. We had guests from as far away as Aberdeen and Kent and even Stowmarket.

The evening wouldn’t be possible without the help and co-operation of the Scouting family and thanks should go to those behind the scenes who cooked and washed up and allowed their children to come up to the hall to represent the Scout Group and act as waiters for the evening.

Thanks must also go to all those who came to make the evening such good fun and it looks as if the evening will have made just over £1000 for Scout funds.

PS. Since the event, a bracelet has been found and there are also three unclaimed raffle prizes. Please contact me.
