  • The February monthly crime report from the Safer Neighbourhood Team once again recorded only one crime.
  • Further draft proposals from the Boundary Commission indicate that Lowestoft will stay within the Suffolk boundary as part of the two options being put forward under the Local Government Review consultation.
  • An exciting new drama called No Ball Games is coming to Shotley Village Hall on Thursday 2 April at 7pm. The play is intended for all ages and has been put together by several local Babergh schools with the help of the Wolsey Theatre. Look out for the posters around the village soon.
  • A further period of consultation relating to Ganges 404 retirement homes application will shortly be undertaken by Babergh regarding the updated Ecology, Heritage and Landscape Management plan and draft Heads of Terms. The developer has confirmed that they were still at the preliminary enquiries stage with the contractors re the repairs to the mast and these will take place as soon as arrangements are finalised.
  • Launch of the Shotley Community Emergency Plan will be delayed until mid-April due to ongoing discussions around access rights across farmland in cases of emergency.
  • It was agreed to part fund the costs of renovating the Church Green area which is owned by the Council. Cllr Wood's Locality Budget would also be providing substantial funding. Improvements included: edging to define the roadway near the green and protect new tree planting; stone chippings to improve the road surface; car parking signs, a dog litter bin, adopting and maintaining the BT payphone and some oak posts to help delineate the path from the car park to the Church.
  • There were no objections raised to the retention of a building for the sale of art and craft material supplies at May Cottage, Bristol Hill and the also to the retention of a detached storage building at Shotley Caravan Park, Gate Farm Road.
  • The date for participation in the Spring Clean Suffolk event in April was fixed for the 18th between 10am and 12 noon. Councillors and litter wardens would be in attendance at the Beach and the Village Hall. Posters will be put up around the village nearer to the time.
