- It was reported that the Boundary Committee would not now report to the Secretary of State until 13 February regarding the Local Government Review for Suffolk. The delay was caused by further financial information of a three unitary option having to be analysed.
- County Cllr Wood advised that the locality budget had some funds still available to local groups.
- The Safer Neighbourhood Team:
- SNT were to hold another meeting at Holbrook Village Hall on 19 January
- an SNT surgery would also be held at Holbrook High School for local people and teenagers - date to be advised
- eight crimes were reported for November in Shotley two involving fireworks (two boys had been arrested) one fraud, the theft of a bicycle (recovered), theft from the Marina, three thefts from vehicles (filler caps); it was also noted that building materials had been stolen from Harkstead recently and parishioners should be aware.
- The 2009/10 precept, to cover the cost of Shotley Parish Council, was set at £44,125.83 (an increase of 16.6%, or less than 12p per week) which amounts to £42.96 pa per household. This is collected via Babergh's Council Tax bill.
- Planning:
- The planning application to install a canopy to the east elevation of the Primary School was supported
- the erection of part single-storey and part first-floor extensions to Waterside, Estuary Road was not supported;
- Babergh had refused planning permission to erect a pitched roof over existing rear flat roof and erection of a rear first floor extension to 59 The Street
- and SCC Highways advised that they would extend the existing disabled parking bay at Lower Harlings to 6m.
- A report from the IEMA on the revised Environmental Statement re the HMS Ganges Reserved Matters relating to the 404 retirement homes application had been received by Babergh - the Council awaited a copy on which to comment.
- The HMS Ganges Mast had been inspected by a specialist rigging company from Cornwall in December and the developers awaited a full survey and specification for repairs.
- Wendy Sadler's nomination for a Babergh Community Achievement Award was successful and an awards evening is to be held in March.
- It was reported that the Shotley Community First Responder Group had started operation on 8 December
- Ipswich Buses would not be reinstating the midnight buses run by the previous operator on Fridays and Saturdays
- Overflowing drains opposite Netherhall had been reported to Highways
- Leaning Poplar trees on the approach to Shotley had been reported to Suffolk County Council and will be felled/cut back as appropriate.
- A casual vacancy for Councillor had arisen due to Cllr Armes' resignation. Notices supplied by Babergh had been posted advertising the vacancy.
- The Freedom of Information Act Model Publication Scheme was adopted (unaltered) and was to be publicised on the website by 1 January 2009.
- Seawall repairs were being carried out between Collimer's Point and Crane's Creek and should be complete by the New Year.
