  • The January monthly crime report from the Safer Neighbourhood Team showed only one crime had been reported.
  • Cllr Wood reported that a decision regarding the Local Government Review would be delayed until 15 July and that there would be County elections in June.
  • The Shotley Community Emergency Plan working party had met recently and carried out a “paper exercise”. The final plan was received by the Council and the launch date was agreed as 23 March at which time a press release would be available on the website.
  • Babergh had advised that the Environmental Statement submitted with the Ganges 404 retirement homes application was being appropriately assessed by the planning officer who felt it was satisfactory but needed further clarification. This would be the last request for an ES. The developer has confirmed that they were still at the preliminary enquiries stage with the contractors re the repairs to the mast and these will take place as soon as arrangements are finalised.
  • Stour River Path - A meeting had been held made up of interested parties from various statutory bodies and local people. Many ideas were discussed and a working party formed which accepted the task of taking this project forward.
  • Babergh advised that they would not be willing to dispose of the land opposite the Kingsland Post Office in order to provide more parking as this was public amenity land.
  • Residents of Church Green had requested that the Council consider removal and replanting of trees around the Church Green, the provision of a dog litter bin, resurfacing the track and adoption of the BT payphone. The Council agreed in principle to their requests subject to detailed costs being supplied to the Council at the March meeting.
  • There were no objections raised to the erection of a rear conservatory at 3 Kirkton Close and the construction of a vehicular access at 11 East View Terrace.
  • The Council would again be sponsoring the Spring Clean Suffolk event in April – exact date to be arranged.
